Hello everyone, and welcome to The MoveBeyond Journal. I'm Mayra, the founder of MoveBeyond, and I'm so happy to finally connect with you here.


This blog is a place where we can explore the transformative power of Pilates & mindful movement, and share our journeys toward health, well-being, and a life lived with intention.

My path to opening MoveBeyond has been a journey of its own. I'm originally from Brazil, but life (and love!) brought me to beautiful Stockholm 14 years ago, where I've built my life with my Greek husband and our two spirited daughters, Sofia (7) and Iris (5).


Conquering my fears, one cold plunge at a time! This was one of my first times!

Like many of you, I juggle the joys and challenges of family life, and I understand the importance of carving out time for self-care. For me, that means prioritizing movement, meditation, and recently, even cold plunges! (Yes, you heard that right! I used to be terrified of cold water, so this is a huge win for me. It's all about finding those little moments of peace and connection amidst the beautiful chaos of life.


As a physiotherapist, I've seen firsthand how pain and restricted movement can impact every aspect of a person's life. At MoveBeyond, we strive to create a haven where individuals can rediscover their bodies, build strength and confidence, and move beyond their limitations. We believe in a personalized approach to Pilates. Our small classes allow for individualized attention, hands-on adjustments, and a warm, supportive atmosphere. We want you to feel seen, heard, and truly cared for at MoveBeyond.

This blog, The MoveBeyond Journal, is an extension of that philosophy. Here, we'll explore the principles of Pilates, share insights on mindful movement, offer practical tips for healthy living, and celebrate stories of transformation. We'll delve into topics like injury prevention, stress management, and the importance of self-care. And maybe I'll even share some stories about my own adventures in self-growth – like the time I conquered my fear of speed and actually skied down a black slope! (Baby steps, but I'm proud of myself! You can't imagine how my fear of speed messes so much with my mind).


My hope for this blog is to create a community where we can learn, grow, and support each other on our individual paths to well-being. A place where you feel inspired to connect with your body, discover your inner strength, and move with greater ease and joy. I believe that movement is a powerful tool for self-discovery, and I'm excited to share this journey with you.
